Bentley OpenUtilities CONNECT Edition Help

To Modify Default Attribute Values for a Feature Definition in a Job Default

Default feature attribute values for public job defaults are initially defined when Bentley OpenUtilities Designer is installed and configured. You can make changes to these values if you belong to a user group that has this capability. Otherwise, you must create a new job default from the original and then make changes to your private job default (see Creating New Job Defaults).

If you are making changes to default attribute values only, the most direct way is to modify the values displayed on the Features page of the Job Default Assistant.

You can also make these modifications using the Attributes page of the Placement Defaults dialog box. This dialog box is accessed with the Feature Properties command on the Job Defaults menu. This method of editing the feature definitions of a job default may be preferable if you are modifying other placement defaults at the same time. For more information, see Modifying Default Geometry Properties for a Feature Definition in a Job Default and Modifying Default Business Rules for a Feature Definition in a Job Default.

Features page, Job Default Assistant

  1. From the list of job defaults in the Job Defaults view, select the job default that you want to edit and choose Job Default Assistant from the Go menu to open the item in the Job Default Assistant.
  2. Or right-click the job default and select Job Default Assistant from the shortcut menu.
  3. Or double-click the job default.
  4. In the Feature Commodity Types folder, select the commodity group containing the feature that you want to edit and open the feature folder to display its attributes.
  5. In the Attribute Value pane, click the value that you want to change and select a different value from the drop-down list. Note: If you change a feature attribute value that is derived from a global attribute value, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer treats the reset value as an override for this feature and removes the global designation next to the attribute name.
  6. To save your changes, choose Save from the File menu or click the Save button on the Job Default Assistant toolbar.
